RAINFOREST RIDING DOMINICA
RIDES
BEACH
The only place in Dominica where you can swim on the horses! This tour takes you through the forest on the Waitukubuli Trail to Purple Turtle Beach. At the beach we cool down with a bareback swim along the bay before heading back home past the Cabrits penninsula. This trip takes about 2- 2 1/2 hours. Bring your swimsuit and your camera!
FOREST
These trails are on segment 14 of the Waitukubuli National Trail. This area contains the most extensive wetland, and these swamps support a wide variety of wildlife species as well as providing a habitat for native and migatory birds. As you ride through the forest you can also enjoy phenomenal views of the black sand beaches of Douglas Bay. Trips take 1-1/2 hours.
CABRITS
This trip takes you through the national park to Fort Shirley, in the partially restored ruins of an 18th centuary garrison, considered the most important historical site in Dominica. The park itself contains the most impressive stands of dry forest in the Eastern Caribbean. Visit the Fort, view the volcanic peaks on your ride through the park; then have lunch by the garrison before riding back on the Waitukubuli Trail. This is a full day trip.
